NT879/NS579: GRECO-ROMAN BACKGROUNDS TO THE NEW TESTAMENT. Ralph Martin.
DESCRIPTION:
- This seminar, intended for doctoral students and open to a very
limited number of master's level students, provides a forum for a reading of
some texts (mostly in Greek) that relate to the political, economic, social,
philosophical and religious setting of the New Testament.
RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
- This course is primarily designed for future teachers and scholars
in the church. All who wish to know how the New Testament relates to its social
and religious environment will be helped to see the way communication becomes a
factor in reading the New Testament then and now.
COURSE FORMAT:
- The group will meet once a week for a two-hour session, with
personalized tutorials and readings prescribed.

- An essay will be written and presented for class
discussion.
PREREQUISITES:
- CATS enrolled members, with a special invitation to a limited
number of M.Div./M.A. students (who are suitably qualified) with the permission
of the instructor.
