OT502: HEBREW PROPHETS. Mignon R. Jacobs.
DESCRIPTION:
- This course studies the prophetic literature, namely, the Former
Prophets (Joshua-Kings) and the Latter Prophets (Isaiah-Malachi). Its
examination includes the historical, theological, literary, and canonical
perspectives of selected texts as well as the prophetic traditions that inform
and shape the Hebrew Prophets.
RELEVANCE FOR MINISTRY:
- This course seeks to promote understanding of God's specific
involvements in human history and their significance for contemporary
understanding of God's revelation, ethics, spirituality, and justice.
COURSE FORMAT:
- The class will meet for four hours twice per week for five weeks
for lectures and discussion.

ASSIGNMENTS:
- Weekly preparation and attendance are required parts of the course.
The final grade is also based on an exegetical paper (due Monday August 24), a
mid-term, and a final exam.
PREREQUISITES:
- None.
RELATIONSHIP TO CURRICULUM:
- Meets M. Div. core requirement in Old Testament "b" (OTB).
