The first gathering of psychologists of religion in China took place at Zhejiang Normal University, Jinghua, China on September 5-6, 2007.

In total there were twenty three participants, including eight graduate students.  Twelve scholars  presented their research.  Some  30 books on psychology of religion were distributed by Professor Dueck to participants. Participants have shown appreciation for being invited and are interested in developing a grant proposal to fund collaborative research.

The participants can be divided to two groups:  theoretical (specifically the history of Western psychology of religion, or comparison Chinese and Western psychology of religion) and the other is empirical (questionnaire, interview, and neuroimaging). Research presented addressed the relationship of psychology to Christianity, Buddhism, few Taoism, Confucianism, and Islam.

In addition to the participants, there were at least four other scholars interested in the conference but they were not able to attend:

Prof. Shihui Han (Director of the Dept. of Psychology, Beijing University),

Prof. Guangcheng Cui (Deputy Dean of Qiqihar Medical college),

Prof. Xingchuan Song (Fujian Normal University).

Prof. Xinping Zhuo (Chinese Academy of Social Sciences)
