"Lingenfelter"Greetings from Dean C. Douglas McConnell

Welcome to Fuller! We are encouraged by your interest in the School of Intercultural Studies.  We have a rich heritage that began with Donald McGavran in 1965 and today includes some of the most distinguished faculty in the evangelical community.  As you consider further study, we hope that you will find the type of educational program that will meet your personal and ministry needs.

In the early years the faculty of the School of Intercultural Studies distinguished themselves by their commitment to the growth of the church and to building bridges across cultures for the task of evangelism and making disciples.  In more recent years we have developed specializations in the emerging church and the formation of leaders, responding to the realities of globalization, development, global Christian worship, and ministry to children at risk.  All of our programs focus on the Word, the Church, and the World.  Our faculty and our students are learners, committed to developing tools of research to build foundations to become disciples and servants of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Fuller is a wonderfully diverse environment that we are eager to share with you.

As you look through our catalog and explore the different programs, you will find that we have tailored our degrees for the needs of a diverse group of people.  We have a Master of Arts in Crosscultural Studies designed especially for those who are preparing to serve in a global context.  The Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies builds on the experience of those who have already engaged in intercultural ministry and would like to gain a new depth of understanding to equip them for further service.  For those who have pastoral education in a traditional seminary program, we have a Master of Theology in Missiology that explores the field of missiology in greater depth and builds upon previous theological studies.  Our Doctor of Missiology degree focuses on the needs of leaders and practitioners who desire to make a greater impact on their ministry world.  Finally, the Doctor of Philosophy in Intercultural Studies or Missiology provides an outstanding opportunity for disciplined study through research and writing while the student masters an areas of scholarship and ministry of value to the mission of the church.

Our vision for the 21st century is to equip servant leaders who mobilize the global church for the mission of God.  We invite you to visit our campus and meet with one of our admissions counselors.  While you are on campus please stop by the School of Intercultural Studies to introduce yourself to us.  As you pray about your needs for further development as a servant of God, please consider joining us at the School of Intercultural Studies.

May you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
