School of Intercultural Studies Writing Style

Chicago Manual of Style
Effective Fall 2005, the School of Intercultural Studies’ writing style has changed to the Chicago Manual of Style. All SIS students are expected to submit all written work using the Chicago Style Manual’s inclusive reference format instead of previously used "SWM Formatting Guide".  EndNote users should use “Chicago Style B.”

Locating the Chicago Manual of Style
The Chicago Manual of Style can be purchased from the Fuller Bookstore.  Fuller’s Library also has copies of the Manual (in the reference area) or you can purchase Turabian Style Manual (inclusive reference style), which is based on Chicago Style (and less expensive). When using the Turabian Style Manual, use the inclusive referencing styles and consult the Chicago Manual Style for unanswered questions.

Alternatively, here are links to access the Chicago Manual of Style online:
On-campus access: http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org

EndNote
All registered School of Intercultural Studies students can obtain bibliographical software (EndNote) free of charge from the SIS Dean’s office.  EndNote users should use “Chicago Style B.”  Fuller’s Library provides training for using the EndNote program.  Please visit the Library’s website at www.fuller.edu/library/EndNote/ to learn more about EndNote training opportunities, including an online EndNote tutorial, and to sign up for a training session.

Thesis and Dissertation Students
School of Intercultural Studies students who are currently writing a thesis or dissertation need to check with the Doctoral Studies office regarding any revisions, if necessary, that may be required.  The Doctoral Studies Office can be contacted at sis-docdir@dept.fuller.edu.
