Hubbard Library Construction:  Construction on the David Allan Hubbard Library began in the summer of 2007.  The building project will take approximately two years.  The south entrance to campus will be closed during the project.  Noise from the construction will be intense at times.  Construction work will take place mostly between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; therefore, faculty, students, and staff may want to adjust their working hours accordingly.  The library will make every effort to accommodate research needs; however, there will be some planned closures, and perhaps some closures with short notice due to safety concerns.

The best time to study in the library during construction:  For quiet study and research time: the best times to avoid construction noise will be after 3:00 p.m.  If you must be in the library, you may want to bring ear plugs or use the ones made available at the Information Access Services Desk.  When noise levels become health threatening, the library will be closed.  Every effort will be made to give advance notice, but these things are sometimes difficult to accurately predict during such a construction project.  Please bear with us during construction; Hubbard library will be a much nicer place to study when it's finished.

Library closed Aug. 16 through Sept. 2:  Due to the construction project, the library and computer lab will be closed for the last two weeks in August 2008.  We encourage students and faculty to check out any books you may need ahead of time, and make alternative plans for computer access and study space.  The library will close at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2008 and remain closed until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2008.  No books or media will be available from any collection during that time; library staff will not have access to the building.  Circulation periods will be extended and fines waived for items due during the closure.  Books on course reserve will be temporarily relocated to Psychology Building room 126.  Library staff will be available to help patrons at this temporary location.  Faculty teaching summer courses may want to discuss in advance their course needs with library staff.  Remote access to the online databases and eBooks will be available except as announced above.

Hubbard Library Construction Began  Construction on the David Allan Hubbard Library began in the summer of 2007.  The building project will take approximately two years.  A ceremonial ground breaking was held on May 21, 2007.  Some of the site preparation tasks include rerouting underground electricity, and demolishing the structures currently on the site.

The south entrance to campus will be closed during the project.  Noise from the construction will be intense at times.  Construction work will take place mostly between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; therefore, faculty, students, and staff may want to adjust their working hours accordingly.  The library will make every effort to and accommodate research needs; however, there will be some planned closures, and perhaps some closures with short notice due to safety concerns.

Named for past Fuller Theological Seminary president David Allan Hubbard, the building will greatly enhance the ability of the library to serve students, faculty and guests.  It will allow us to more than double our collection of books and other media, augment essential archives, and offer the study space and technological capabilities the Fuller community desperately needs.  Most important, the Hubbard Library will respond to a changing world by documenting the history and movement of evangelical thought, with an emphasis on the voices of developing evangelical churches in the Two-Thirds World.  The Hubbard Library will incorporate a remodeled and redesigned McAlister Library.  Click here to learn more about the fund raising campaign for the library.  See photos

360@Fuller Multiple Database Search  360@Fuller Multiple Database Search is a new search interface that will allow you to search multiple databases at once.  You may find relevant articles in unexpected databases; or you may find too many irrelevant hits, and need to go to a specific database (like ATLA for religious topics, or PsychInfo for psychological topics).  Try it out, and let us know how you like it; please send feedback to: lib-systems@dept.fuller.edu

New Interlibrary Loan system introduced  Starting Friday evening, Oct. 5, 2007, the library switched to a new ILL system for students and faculty.  It's called ILLiad.  When you want to request an Interlibrary Loan, Databases like WorldCat and ATLA will direct you to the ILLiad system.  You'll logon with your Portico username and password, and request the book or article.  Here are some advantages: with ILLiad you'll only need to enter your contact information once, not for each request.  There is an online tracking system, so you'll be able to see when the other library has sent your book or article, and when it arrives here for you to pick up.  Some articles will be delivered to your ILLiad page as a .pdf scanned document.  And you'll get automatic emails when an item is received or overdue.

Oxford Islamic Studies Online is available as a trial database through Dec. 4, 2007 or longer.  Please go to the Trial Databases page for more information.
