A Partnership of the Pasadena Pastors Prayer Network and Pray for Pasadena Open Letter to Pasadena
Pastors and Residents

Upon your walls, O Jerusalem (Pasadena), I have posted sentinels; all day and night they shall never be silent. You who remind the LORD, take no rest, and give him no rest until he establishes Jerusalem (Pasadena) and makes it renowned throughout the earth.

-- Isaiah 62:6-7

Greetings in the blessed name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ:

We are excited about the move of God, calling our City of Pasadena to prayer. We acknowledge that many of you have already been participating in praying for the city for years. Through Pastors for Pasadena many pastors have been meeting to pray for the city on Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for 18 months. On the National Day of Prayer 2007 we prayed for the city at the Rose Bowl in the press box. Recently on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Lake Avenue Church in collaboration with many other pastors, churches and organizations we prayed for the city in a city-wide prayer meeting. God is truly moving in our city and calling us to prayer. There is a growing sense that God is now calling churches, organizations and our Pasadena community together to go outside of our buildings to pray in and around our neighborhoods, prayer-walking.

Many of you expressed interest in the “Adopt-A-Block” prayer ministry at the city-wide prayer meeting at Lake Avenue Church. Since that time a group has been meeting together to attempt to harmonize the momentum expressed by all of us, with the goal of launching this ministry in concerted effort in early 2008. Many of you have already started prayer-walking through the neighborhoods and praying for the city. {Pastor Henry’s story here} and are reporting remarkable testimonies.

The purpose of this letter is to further that united expression of seeing our city transformed through prayer by covering every physical block of Pasadena in prayer by walking our streets. We recognize that prayer ministries are occurring in all our all churches and congregations and some of us may already be or have been involved in this type of ministry before and as such we value your input immensely. The united understanding that was gained from the October 7, 2007 event was an unquestionable belief that God’s power and presence can transform Pasadena in its entirety through united prayer.

So, what now and why this letter?

We hope to host a meeting of interested pastors and lay people in early 2008, and would value your thoughts and input regarding this movement. All we ask is that you reply to this communication and we will correspond back when that meeting will take place.

If you already participate in prayer walking, please let us know which streets you walk, so that we will be able to literally create a map of Pasadena clearly outlaying where prayer is physically taking place on our streets.

If you have questions please feel free to contact Pastor Henry Sideropoulos or Pastor Marion Skeete for further information.
