Master of Arts in Theology Theology and the Arts Format |
96 units |
The Master of Arts in Theology - Theology and the Arts Format is designed to prepare students with a strong background and/or interest in the arts to navigate the intersection between theology and the arts. Those who wish to pursue work as practicing artists, teachers, workers in related fields, or those intending further study will gain the historical, theological, biblical and cultural preparation necessary to be both interpreters of culture and theologically grounded artists.
The Master of Arts in Theology – Theology and the Arts Format requires the successful completion of 96 quarter units. In addition to full-time and part-time study at the main campus in Pasadena, options are also available for taking up to 16 units in a combination of online and individualized distance learning courses. Many of the courses necessary for the degree are offered at all five Fuller extension campuses.

program in the School of Theology must submit the following:
Official transcripts of all postsecondary schools attended, showing a bachelor's degree earned from an accredited institution of higher learning, with a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.7 or above.
Evidence of academic capacity for graduate study as communicated through GPA and references (one of which should be an academic reference)
Evidence of personal maturity as communicated through three references (one of which must be a pastoral reference), and the applicant's religious autobiography
Religious Autobiography parts A and B
-
Applicants for this format must submit an additional statement, and are invited to submit supporting materials (e.g., portfolio of previous work, writing samples, performance videos, CDs or audiotapes, etc.). Supporting materials are used primarily to help the Brehm Center become better aquatinted with the applicant as a potential incoming student. Since the worship, theology, and arts concentrations are primarily academic and integrative, and not part of a studio-art degree, the artistic sophistication of supporting materials are rarely used to influence an applicant’s admittance into the program. Contact the Brehm Center for more information.
